When Passion Overcomes Fear

Discover what it means to let your passion overcome your fear when you watch this cell phone salesman audtition for Britain's Got Talent. You can tell by the judges' initial reactions to Paul Potts's announcement that he was going to perform opera for them how low their expectations were. And then you can watch how this man, once so plagued by bullies that he said that his voice was always his best friend, ignites the audience. [read on...]

I watched this video three times in a row, and cried each time. Then I began reading about him--he was in debt up to his eyeballs; the agents he sent audition tapes to never acknowledged receiving them, so he figured he wasn't good enough; he had a series of health problems that stopped him from singing--and I was awed. Apparently the rest of Britain was too, because he won the competition, had some dental work done, signed a contract with Simon Cowell, and has been hitting all the talk shows in America. Paul Potts seems humble, grateful and amazed to actually be doing the thing he feels he was put on this earth to do. We should all be so lucky.

I got chills.

This man made me cry too. I am still wiping my tears. His voice and story was so powerful that I got chills and my heart reached out to him, not just with him amazing voice, but with his determination.

On a personal note- This is how I feel when I think of my passion of cooking. I always had fear of starting something on my own, and I finally just said I need to take the plunge, because my passion was about to explode!

You can see this man did the same, and was received with open arms. I would only hope to be as blessed, and salute, admire and am inspired from this man. Thank you for such a wonderful newsletter Jennifer.
